Horsman's Mardi Gras Doll was advertised at Christmas, 1956. The doll is most likely a 20" Cindy who for some reason was being advertised under another name, possibly to differentiate her from other Cindys. The photo at right is from the Christmas Time Toys catalog, which appears to be a distributor's catalog that stores could mark with their own imprint.
Body Construction
This 20" doll has a posable, stuffed vinyl body jointed at neck, shoulders and elbows. She has red or blonde hair in a ponytail style and green sleep eyes with brush lashes.
Markings
She is marked "Horsman 83" on the back of her head.
Clothing
She wears a gown with dark velvet bodice, and skirt with tiers of pink lace, embellished with silver and gold threads. Underneath she wears a crinoline petticoat and high heeled shoes. A choker at her throat completes the outfit. Several color variations of this outfit have been found.
