This month we are having a special program by our member Jane Benson, and her daughter Sarah Roth. They will be showing and telling us all about the dolls made by Jane's mother, Gwen Flather. Gwen was a member of GSDC and a nationally known doll maker. She was an early member of NIADA, the National Institute of American Doll Artists. Many of her dolls are of celebrities, historical and fictional characters.
Please bring LeeAnn dressed in a unique outfit - it can be something suited to the season, or whatever your imagination can dream up.

Granite State News and Notes
Update on Holiday Party
We have an update on the information for this year's Christmas party. Usually we begin gathering at 11:00, luncheon is served at noon, and we are done by 3:00 p.m. This year, the restaurant has another function booked after ours; so they will begin serving at 11:30 and we need to be done by 2:30. So we can arrive for the social hour, raffles and sales tables at 10:30, if you are bringing a raffle item please plan to arrive in plenty of time for it to be set up. And if you haven't sent Linda Svok your reservation form, please do so as soon as you can.
Christmas Project
Alison Vallieres is still distributing want lists of mothers and children from the Domestic Violence Program. See her at the November meeting.

Some dolls by Gwen Flather

Above, "Robert Frost Walking in the Woods" is a portrait of New Hampshire's noted poet. He retains his original tag from the League of NH Craftsmen shop. Top right, this tiny doll is made of a woven fabric and is just 4.5" tall. Her sand pail is a thimble! Below left, another tiny creation, this one made of felt, carries her own even tinier dolly. |
