GSDC September Meeting:
But it Followed Me Home!
Where: Withington Auctions, Hillsborough Center
When: Saturday, September 13th
Preview 8 a.m.; meeting 9:30 a.m.; auction 10 a.m.

This month's club meeting will take place at Withington Auctions, where we will be able to participate in (or simply enjoy) their "Doll and Toy Extravaganza" auction. The catalog lists 653 lots, so there will be plenty of "eye candy" to go around.

The auction house is located in Hillsboro Center, and there will be signs evident everywhere to lead us to Withington's. Plan to get there early for the preview, which goes from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. We'll have a quick business meeting from 9:30 to 10:00, and then attend the auction from 10 a.m. until we're all broke and giddy. Please bring a friend. We won't have any hostesses for this month's meeting; you may bring your lunch or buy it there.

Southern New Hampshire Doll Show & Sale

Where: Wayfarer Convention Center, Bedford
When: Sunday, September 21st; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

By now, each of you will have posted the neon pink flyers and given out all your discount coupons (right?!) for the upcoming annual doll show and sale, which is jointly sponsored by the Granite State Doll Club and the Nellie Perkins Doll & Miniature Society. There will be plenty of sales tables, plus marvelous raffles for all to enjoy. Please note that it is not necessary to be there during the raffle drawing to win (but you must enter)!

This is a great opportunity for us to put our best foot forward and to supplement our treasury, so if you've offered to help, or if you have a table reserved, be sure to circle the date on your calendar. See you there!

Granite State News and Notes

We're greatly saddened by the recent loss of members Carolyn Diamon, club president from 1978 to 1980, and Flossie LaClair, club president from 1986 to 1988, both beloved members. The club also mourns the loss of Mrs. Thomas L. McCready (Tasha Tudor), a charter member. A program focusing on Tasha Tudor's work is being planned for an upcoming meeting.

The Fine Print

At our regular October meeting, we will be asked to consider changes to our Standing Rules and/or vote to submit the current rules to the United Federation of Doll Clubs for their agreement. The concern is that we may not have standing rules which are at variance with the UFDC By-laws without their concurrence, as is the situation now.

We will consider whether to keep or rescind the vote by which we adopted, in 2005, language changing Section 1 of Article 4 to read, in part: "The term of each office shall be two (2) years. A person may be re-elected to office for a second two (2) year term, but may not serve again in that office until an intervening term has elapsed." Should we vote to rescind the 2005 vote, the language will revert to that printed in the 1999 By-laws many of us have: "The term of officers shall be two years. Only the Treasurer may hold office for two successive terms. There can be no re-election of the current Treasurer until an interval of one term has elapsed."

In addition, we will be asked to consider the following language change to Section 6 of Article 4 of the Standing Rules: "Newly elected officers shall assume office at the close of the fiscal year, which is August 31st, allowing several months for the transition of responsibilities to occur."

A Great Time was Had by All!

Thanks to our club President, Peggy Farwell, for having us to her lovely home for the annual picnic. Denis Bastien was our guest, and just a joy to meet, together with his family. Thanks for everything, Peg!!
