Body Construction
Mannikin (also spelled Manikin) was made by Valentine as a direct knockoff of Uneeda's Dollikin. Her head and arms are vinyl and her body and legs are hard plastic. She is 20" tall and is jointed at the waist, neck, hips, ankles, knees and shoulders. She lacks Dollikin's wrist and upper arm joints. Her brunette hair is rooted into an updo, and she has sleep eyes with brush lashes.Markings
She is completely unmarked.Clothing
Mannikin is shown in the catalog photo at right in what appears to be a black velveteen (?) jumpsuit with a taffeta coat trimmed in rick rack. She has more often been found in a copy of Dollikin's "Lotus Blossom" outfit which consists of a white blouse and pants and long oriental fan print vest. There are some differences that can help to tell the two outfits apart. Dollikin's top and pants close with donut snaps, while Mannikin's top fastens with a sewn-on snap and her pants fasten with a tie. The trim around Mannikin's vest is a grosgrain type (ribbed) as opposed to the smooth trim on the Dollikin version.Packaging
She is packaged in a box with a built-in seat as shown above. The box graphics describe her as "The original posing doll...pose her in many different ways."Thanks to Mary Kangas for help with this page.
